Salma Hayek Poses as Statue of Liberty in Fourth of July Throwback Magazine Shoot: ‘Latin Heat’

Salma Hayek is feeling patriotic this Fourth of July!

To celebrate the annual holiday, the Magic Mike’s Last Dance actress, 57, shared a throwback on social media of herself shining a light on America — literally.

“George Magazine July 1999, JFK Jr. Latin Heat #tbt Happy 4th July! 🇺🇸,” she captioned the Instagram post.

In the photo, Hayek was dressed as the Statue of Liberty, complete with a crown on her head and a torch in her hand. Behind her was a red, white and blue liberty bell decoration made of paper, and a backdrop of a sky with clouds floating in the distance.

The portrait was taken when the Mexican-American actress posed for the July 1999 cover of George magazine.

The monthly publication, which was launched in September 1995, was co-founded by John F. Kennedy Jr., and centered on the theme of politics-as-lifestyle. The last issue was printed in January 2001.

For her cover, Hayek posed in a low-cut blue corset with white stars and red and white tassels. She wore denim capri pants while sitting on a saddle with a lasso roped near her.

The Wild Wild West alum’s look was completed by strappy red heels and a red cowgirl hat.

“Latin Heat! Salma Hayek & the new Latino power brokers are making America sizzle,” the cover read in all caps.

The Golden Globe-winning actress recently revisited her cowgirl look from in the 2006 film Bandidas and said on social media that she had waited “20 years” for Beyoncé’s country album, Cowboy Carter.

In an April Instagram carousel, Hayek showed off her cowboy-core style with photos of herself wearing a white T-shirt that read “KNTRY RADIO TEXAS 100,000 WATTS OF HEALING POWER” — a reference to the fictional radio station mentioned on the 32-time Grammy winner’s latest album.

“Dear @beyonce, Penélope and I have been waiting 20 YEARS for this album! FINALLY, it was worth it. 🤠#CowboyCarter @penelopecruzoficial Querida @beyonce , Penélope y yo hemos estado esperando este álbum durante 20 AÑOS! FINALMENTE, valió la pena. 🤠,” Hayek captioned the post.

Additional photos in her carousel also included throwback pictures with her Bandidas costar Penélope Cruz.

The 2006 Western featured the actresses in 19th-century Mexico as they became bank-robbing outlaws.

Both wore cowboy hats, chaps and western-inspired corsets for the photos, while posing beside each other in the desert in one of the throwback shots. In a second image, they smiled while Cruz, 50, gave Hayek a piggyback ride.
