When Sharon Stone discovers that her ancestor is one of the most significant people in history, her mind is completely blown

When the actress learns that her grandfather “basically created modern Europe” on “Finding Your Roots,” Henry Louis Gates Jr. leaves her stunned.

Apparently, Sharon Stone is not the only influential member of her family.

According to PEOPLE’s exclusive analysis of the actress’ appearance on the Jan. 28 edition of Finding Your Roots, Stone, 66, is speechless when presenter Henry Louis Gates Jr. discloses that her paternal side’s genealogy “culminates with one of the most famous men who ever lived.”

In addition to being descended from two French kings, Stone discovered that her father’s side of the family dates back to the “very distant past” and includes Charlemagne, a historical person who lived and governed in Europe in the eighth century.

“No!” Stone exclaims as she sees the portrait of her distant ancestor, reaching for her glasses to get a better look.

When Gates tells her, “Charlemagne is your 38th great-grandfather,” “The initial sacred Roman ruler. He was a cruel man.

“Charlemagne was my grandfather,” Stone replies, her astonishment still fresh.

Gates, “Your 38th great-grandfather,” affirms. “He’s one of the most important people in history, of course, and he basically created modern Europe, with an iron will.”

“Well if you wanna see someone whose mind is completely blown, here it is,” Stone replies, still in shock.
